“Happy to announce that RUNTIME has been optioned by Escape Artist Productions for film & TV rights. Am I fantasy casting the main characters? Yes. Yes, I am. Big thanks to Brendan Deenan and @BookCannibal for making this possible!” Divya tweeted last week.

“Runtime,” which was one of the 2016 Nebula Award finalists for the best novel category, tells the story of Marmeg Guinto — a genius in programming cybernetic implants, but financially broke.
She is stopped from pursuing her career due to lack of funds and decides to compete in Minerva Sierra Challenge — a cyborg race to move ahead with her dream. The only way to a better life for herself and her younger brothers is by winning Minerva Challenge and the story takes shape as she faces corporate sponsored athletes.
“A thrilling romp through a gleaming cybernetic future that’s neither dystopia nor utopia but embedded in our reality ― I wish more science fiction were as exciting and relevant as Runtime,” wrote Ken Liu, an American science-fiction and fantasy writer, in his review.
Escape Artists Productions is an independently financed motion picture and television production company that has to its credit blockbuster movies such as The Equalizer and The Pursuit of Happyness.
Sacchi has to his credit movies that include Conan the Barbarian. He was also the executive producer of movies such as My Bloody Valentine, Punisher: War Zone and The Possession.
