Parameswaran is currently the Group CFO and head of Eros’ North America operations.
President Donald Trump, on Thursday, announced his intent to appoint an Indian American as a key member in the President’s advisory committee.
The White House said in a press release that Trump announced his intent to name Prem Parameswaran to a key presidential advisory committee. Parameswaran is a financial expert based in New York and is the Group Chief Financial Officer and president of Eros International’s North America operations.
Parameswaran is the only Indian American among the 12 members the president intends to appoint to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
The White House press release said Michelle Park Steel of California and Paul Hsu of Florida will serve the committee as co-chairs upon their appointment.
Besides Parameswaran, the other members will be Jennifer Carnahan of Minnesota, David B. Cohen of California, Grace Y. Lee of Michigan, George Leing of Colorado, Jan-Ie Low of Nevada, Herman Martir of Texas, Amata Coleman Radewagen of American Samoa, Sean D. Reyes of Utah and Chiling Tong of Maryland.
The President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders was established by former president Barack Obama. It comprises leaders from a range of different industries such as business, health, universities, nonprofit organization, government and others.
The commissioners work along with the agencies of the federal government and work towards areas such as health, economic status and education of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders communities.
Trump also announced his intent to designate Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao as co-chair of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Parameswaran was born in the United States to Indian parents. He grew up in Scarsdale, New York. He graduated from Columbia University and did his MBA from Columbia Business School. In 2017, Parameswaran was invited to the White House Oval Office Reception to celebrate Diwali with president Trump.
He joined Eros in 2015. Prior to that, he was the global head of media and telecom investment banking at Jefferies LLA, an investment banking firm.
