In true Indian style, the video, titled “Hum Saath Saath Hain,†features the Jonas Parivar.
When Priyanka Chopra decided to marry American singer Nick Jonas, there was bound to be sub-continental interest in the singer-songwriter and his clan. So, recently, when the Jonas Brothers (Nick and his brothers Joe and Kevin) released their latest single together, marking their come-back after six long years, many Indians couldn’t help but see the unmistakable desi connection in the video. Not only does the video features Priyanka Chopra but also the two other better halves of brothers Joe and Kevin – Sophie Turner and Danielle Jonas; thus, making the video quite reminiscent of the big khaandaans (family) depicted in Bollywood.
Wasting no time, one Instagrammer @sha.miah gave a desi spin to the Sucker video by comparing it to hit Hindi movie Hum Saath Saath Hain, starring Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan. The video quickly went viral as people couldn’t help but love the funny take and resemblance to the epic movie that saw a big Bollywood parivar complete with three brothers and their better halves, wives, girlfriends etc.
The video, posted just two days ago, has already been viewed 47,885 times, and is leaving Bollywood lovers in splits.
The video, which borrows audio from a song in Hum Saath Saath Hain, is the latest in the series of online spoofs that have been made about Priyanka Chopra. Late last year, when Chopra-Jonas, popularly known as PeeCee in Bollywood, was getting married to Nick Jonas in Rajasthan in a lavish ceremony, there was a hashtag #nationaljiju that was trending around the world. Amusingly Indians have been calling Nick Jonas the Indian jiju, for tying the knot with Bollywood’s original desi girl.
