The show is judged by Jennifer Lopez, among other high-profile celebrities.
The season 3 of popular dance reality show, World of Dance on NBC, had a surprise winner. The Kings, a Mumbai, India,-based hip-hop dance group, were announced the winners of the season. Judges that chose the winners included Jennifer Lopez, rapper Ne-Yo and dancer Derek Hough.
The Twitter handle of @NBCWorldofDance, announcing the winners, hailed the group as #Worldofdance royalty.
The handle posted several clips of the groups performances during the reality show.
The Kings had a tough competition from several very talented dance groups. While many of their performances made the judges’ jaws drop, it was also the final performance, where the group dressed as gladiators, that inched them closer to seal a victory. It was not just the choreographed moves but also many daring, dangerous-if-gone-wrong stunts that made their performance one of its kind.
The group walked away with a cool $1 million as the prize. The director and choreographer of the 14-member crew, Suresh Mukund, took to Instagram to express his joy at the win. He wrote: “Tonight, is the night which each and every Indian is going to remember for life and feel proud seeing the Indian Flag flying high with the perfect score for our stellar performance… The journey of local dancers from the small gully of vasai Nallasopara to the world champions was really challenging filled with never ending hard work and dedication.”
This is a path-breaking move for The Kings, the first group from India that started competing on international stage and to get an invitation from a prestigious international platform. The group is also the very first team from India to win a Bronze Medal at the World Hip-Hop Dance Championship in 2015. They came into limelight after Bollywood film ABCD was made on their journey.

The only thing jealousy did was make people miserable. Do you know how hard and consistent this act is to do. The fluid transition, creativity and synchronicity. As the judges rule. The “KINGS” are the full package. This was very entertaining and not boring. The world needs more entertainment. People are becoming furious haters of all who differ with them and so hating expend their force in tearing themselves to pieces.
Love from New York “KINGS” Please come back and entertain us. Blessings and long life to all of you.
Is it dance or gymnastic? I just wonder if the world has gone crazy or was always so!
