2020 team to take office at annual ‘Dance Pe Chance’ event on January 25.
The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), one the oldest and largest nonprofit grassroots umbrella organization comprising diversified Indian Associations, has elected a new executive team for 2020 led by Anil Bansal.
Bansal, an IIT Kanpur graduate, and other office bearers were elected at the annual general body meeting of the FIA, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut (Tri-State) on Dec17 at TV Asia Auditorium, Edison, New Jersey.
A founder and Executive Chairman of Indus American Bank, Bansal is an active and distinguished community leader, an active philanthropist. His Bansal Charitable Foundation provides financial support to a multitude of non-profits in the USA .
Others elected were: Himanshu Bhatia, Executive Vice President; Saurin Parikh, Vice President; Praveen Bansal, General Secretary; Mardavi Patel, Joint Secretary and Amit Ringasia, Treasurer. Immediate Past President Alok Kumar will also continue to be part of the executive team.
Kumar welcomed the President-Elect Anil Bansal who will take oath at FIA’s annual ‘Dance Pe Chance’ event to celebrate India’s Republic day on Saturday, Jan 25, 2020.
The colorful event is a cultural dance competition held for the past 36 years that provides a platform for the new generation of Americans of Indian origin to showcase their cultural talent.
The event has seen about 18000 children’s participation since its inception. This year there will be a bigger venue, the War Memorial Theater in Trenton, New Jersey.
Reviewing the activities of FIA during 2019, Kumar spoke of how 28-community focused and community assisting programs and events held under his presidency had an impact on him as well as the community.
FIA’s Election Committee comprising of Election Chair Jayesh Patel along with trustees Dipak Patel and Yash Paul Soi announced the election results..
Bansal assured the attendees that FIA will span uncharted altitudes under his leadership and the milestone year will include a jamboree of festivities while continuing the active role of service to the diaspora.
Ramesh Patel, Chairman of Board of Trustees, praised the outgoing team for FIA’s significant social activities that positively impacted the Indian community in 2019.
He also welcomed the incoming 2020 committee which will carry on FIA’s community engagements, initiatives and festivities.
