Multiple plans offer Visitor Insurance at affordable rates with covid covered as any other illness
With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the United States has imposed a travel ban on visitors from many countries including India, where a deadly second wave of the pandemic is raging.
On May 4, President Joe Biden issued a proclamation strictly restricting travel from India to the US as suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDCP) to control the spread of the virus in the country.
However, in the past months, the Covid situation in both countries has gradually improved. The reduced number of daily reported cases has compelled the US government to reconsider the travel ban on Indian passengers.
The Biden government has revised the travel advisory for India and improved its status from level 4 (No travel) to level 3 (which urges citizens to reconsider travel).
This has enabled many Indian travelers to visit the US. But this arrangement requires visitors from India to test Covid negative prior to boarding their flight. Also, it is essential to be vaccinated, or else visitors will be confined to a 14-day quarantine on arrival.

Despite all the safety precautions taken by both countries the impending possibility of the spread of the virus remains.
Moreover, remote work may not be possible for all visa holders of various work, student, and visitor visas, such as H-1B, L1, F-1, and B1/B2.
Devi Rathod an Indian American logistic worker has first-hand faced the backlash of the travel restriction imposed on Indian travelers.
She had traveled back to India in late March 2020, to renew her visa. But due to the sudden change in Indian American travel regulations, Rathod was stuck in India for several months.
“A possible solution to the situation is Health Insurance against Covid-19”, says Pallavi Sadekar chief marketing executive of VisitorGuard.com, the leading US-based Visitor Insurance provider.
Sadekar suggests visa holders purchase visitor health insurance with Covid coverage that can pay for the treatment in case of corona virus infection.
“Though the possibility of an infection is reduced it is not yet completed eliminated†adds Pallavi.
Foreign students and employees reported that many Universities and Workplaces have made it mandatory to perform a Covid test before rejoining.
In the event of an illness, insurance companies state that the cost of a Covid-19 test can be compensated by visitor health insurance plan if it is part of diagnostics required by the provider to assess the illness.
Multiple insurance plans are currently being offered by several respected insurance companies to US visitors at affordable rates with covid covered as any other illness.
Insurance experts believe that while precautions are being taken to avoid the spread of the diseases, Covid-19 health insurance provides an added layer of security to deal with the aftermath of a Covid infection.
Indian visitors traveling to the US are highly recommended to purchase visitor health insurance beforehand.
