Mystery thriller “Fall” casts a number of Indian American actors.
A new short film by Indian American freshman director Vigil Bose premiered in the Washington, DC, area last month.
The film, Fall, brings a fresh perspective on America’s anti-insurgent operations and their effects on US operatives.
In the movie, Bose, who had the opportunity to observe the lives of many US veterans, portrays the psychological trauma that undercover operatives have to undergo once they return from key missions.
Produced by Three Eye Visuals, the film introduces a number of lesser known Indian American actors based in the Washington, DC, area. The cast, which includes Jiju Nair, Praveen Kumar and Sindhu Nair — actors who would not have been considered to have a mainstream presence from a Hollywood perspective — brings to the fore a subject generally considered to be in the classic mainstream mold.
Bose told The American Bazaar that he wanted to project the need for inclusion of minority actors in American mainstream visual media like movies, TV shows and drama. He pointed out to a UCLA survey that reported that Asian characters made up only 3 percent to 4 percent of roles in scripted broadcast and cable shows in the 2014-15 season.
Fall is a thrilling experience that forces the viewer to rewind again and again in intrigue. The plot revolves around the life of Michael Williams, a former undercover operative who was deployed in tactical combat zones. Upon returning from active duty, he finds himself battling demons on what he has done and what was done to him.
Psychiatry, bias, battle scars and assisted coping are the active themes in this new age psychological thriller. For a short format movie, Fall impresses the casual moviegoer with the use of quality special effects, crisp editing and a fair dose of inspired acting.
Fall will be available for general viewers by end of 2018 on premium video-on-demand channels. More information on the movie is available on the Facebook page of Three Eye Visuals.

Fall is a brilliant short film that demonstrates, Vigil Bose is talented with the craft of film making. The film was able to narrate a very intense story with great visuals and sound effects and minimal spoken words. The skill and precision of the film is of very high quality. I am confident that Fall will make its mark and also with proper marketing and publicity, Fall is going to be a very succesful feature length movie.
I had the opportunity to watch this film. The Writing was great and intense. The Directing brought the writing to life quite well. The Acting was natural and kept the audience engaged. The Cinematography was beautiful bringing the production value very high. The Editing complimented the story perfectly. The Score matched the mood of the scenes in an amazing way. The Visual FX added to the feel of the genre. Overall amazing work!
We were privileged to view the short film “Fall”, conceived, scripted and directed by Vigil Bose. The film in a short span in a brilliantly executed visuals takes the viewer to the inner conflicts of professionals who deal with the security of the United States. To a normal person, such a professional role appears glamourous like that of an airline pilot, who has the life of hundreds of passengers when he is piloting his plane. In a similar parallel, a drone controller and his boss has a split second to identify friend or foe and give the directions for the kill. The toll that takes on the individual is beautifully and artistically crafted. Getting into the emotional aspect of a situation and visually capturing it, is what “Fall” does well and leaves a lot to the imagination of the viewer.
A well-done film.
I watched the movie Fall at its premiere night and was blown away. This movie is very well done, the tension builds, the characters are slowly getting discovered and the finale is shocking! Great filmography, visual effects and casting, overall great film
The film does a great job creating a suspense and thriller for the audience and even helps set up a potential prequel/sequel. The mystery and action that surrounds the characters in the film keeps your eye on the screen along with the wonderful graphics and stylized editing. Hollywood and cinema in general need more stories and narratives by Indian filmmakers and this is a great example of a contender.
