BENGALURU: A new born baby girl in the city of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh is garnering the attention of believers as she has a “trunk” similar to Lord Ganesh – the son of Lord Shiva and Parvathi.
Many people, who have gone to worship her, believe that the baby is the incarnation of Ganesh whereas, some others say that she is the wife of Ganesh.
The baby girl was born last Thursday with a trunk like flesh protruding in between her two eyes. Her parents, Om Prakash and Sarvesh live in the city of Kothi Lankram and people are swarming to their house to see the “Lord Ganpathni” (wife of Ganpathi) with offerings.
The new born girl is the third child for the couple and though their baby is deformed they believe that she can bring luck to the family.
The baby’s aunt was quoted as saying, “Her face looks exactly like Lord Ganesh. Everybody is saying she is an incarnation of the god. This is why many are coming here to get a glimpse of the baby and are making whatever offerings possible.”

According to doctors who treated the baby, her condition is caused due to some kind of gene mutation triggered due to malnutrition or increased levels of pollution. Doctors also confirmed that this deformity can be corrected if the baby survives the initial few days, reported The Hindustan Times.
Dr Jayant Sharma from Jeevan Hospital was quoted by The Times of India as saying, “A baby boy was born with a trunk some time back also. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive. But if this girl does, the family can go for corrective surgery.”
Even as doctors say that the condition of the baby girl is purely due to gene mutation that doesn’t keep people from worshiping her.
According to a visitor, “I believe this baby is an incarnation of Lord Ganesha and hence I have come here. I feel very peaceful having come here.”
