BENGALURU: BJP leader and pro-Hindutva activist Subramanian Swamy has announced the formation of a new organization to find resolutions for disputes such as persuading Muslims to accept the proposal to rebuild a Ram Mandir temple in Ayodhya.
The new organization called Virat Hindustan Sangam aims at training youth to spread Hindutva ideas like restoring the Ram temple, beef ban, uniform civil code and abolishing Article 370, which grants special autonomous status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Swamy said the new outfit will function as an influential group, taking up specific issues related to general politics and ideology to the notice of the central government by working closely with Sangh Parivar.
According to him, the first priority of the new Hindutva organization will be to find a resolution in constructing of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
He was quoted by PTI saying, “We will take up from January 1, 2016 the Ram temple issue. I will want the government to follow the Saudi Arabian example of offering the Waqf Board a site across the Saryu River for building a mosque…and leave the Ram temple premises completely for the temple.”
Swamy expressed hope of completing all legal work in the Supreme Court by 2016. He said, “We hope to complete it by the end of 2016 because of our activism both in courts and in terms of pushing the government.”
Swamy’s legal battle also includes the fight for scrapping Article 370, a key point in the BJP’s manifesto in the run-up to the 2014 elections, which is currently not in the government’s immediate agenda. Swamy said the government will have to comply with its manifesto before 2019, when the next general election is due.
He said that the new Hindutva outfit will be open even for Indians belonging to other religions who acknowledge their Hindu ancestry.
