WASHINGTON, DC: Two salon workers are facing murder charges in the death of a Dallas woman after she had silicone injections to increase the size of her buttocks.
Jimmy Joe “Alicia” Clarke, 31, of Dallas, Texas, already had been charged for practicing medicine without a license. She and Denise Rochelle “Wee Wee” Ross, 43, were arrested in March after the body of Wykesha Reid, 34, was found February 19 inside their now-defunct eyelash extension business, reported USA Today.
The coroner’s office Tuesday said Reid died of pulmonary silicone embolization, associated with cosmetic silicone injections, according to the Associated Press.
Clarke told police that Reid had come to the salon the previous day at about 5:30 p.m. local time and said “she was not well and wanted to lay down.” Clarke attested she locked Reid in the business overnight only to find her dead upon returning the next morning.
Suspiciously, detectives found Reid lying on her back on a massage table with her pants partially pulled down and bloody gauze on her.
Reid’s daughter, Keira Reid, informed police that her mother had left home the night before to get “butt injections” and that she believed a woman named “Wee Wee” and a transgender person performed the procedure. Clarke, who posted $45,000 bond Wednesday, is transgender.
Almost 10,000 people had the Brazilian butt lift cosmetic surgery in 2013, which is the most recent data available, according to statistics tabulated by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
