NEW DELHI: Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, who is hiding from the Enforcement Directorate of India in London, is continuing with his “whistleblowing” spree on Twitter, and raising panic in the major political parties in India.
In a series of tweets, Lalit Modi has claimed BJP MP “Varun Gandhi came to meet him at his house in London a few years ago” and later it transpired that the deal was in exchange for a sum of $60 million to be paid to Sonia Gandhi, the chief of the Congress Party, reported The Times of India.

Modi also alleged that “Varun Gandhi offered to settle everything with Sonia Gandhi for $60 million”.
“Varun offered to settle everything with his aunt. He wanted me to meet her sister from Italy. The aunt is Sonia Gandhi and sister is Sonia’s sister,” the former IPL chief has alleged in these tweets.

Here are the tweets of Lalit Modi regarding his meeting with Varun Gandhi:
“@varungandhi80 came to see me at my house a few years ago and said he can settle everything in @INCIndia with his aunt.”
“He wanted me to meet her sister from Italy. I heard him next I heard from our common friend who introduced us that auntie wants 60 million dollars. Told them whaaaat are u nuts go HKG a kite. Can he deny that. I hope he does.”
“The auntie he refers to is #soniagandhi. The sister is #soniagandhi sister – just for clarity.”
Varun Gandhi, however, has refuted the allegations.
Vehemently denying the charge, Varun told PTI, “This is absolutely baseless and it is beneath my dignity to respond to this nonsense.”
The BJP has also come out in support of Varun Gandhi, saying he is in a different party than Sonia Gandhi.
“Varun Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are in different parties and the world knows about the ties between the two families, BJP Spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, reported Firstpost.
