In an unfortunate incident in the state of Uttar Pradesh, a wedding celebration turned deadly for the groom after gunshots fired during the wedding reception took his life.
According to PTI, the 28-year old Amit Rastogi was killed in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh after members of his clan fired their guns to mark the end of the celebrations. According to police, the bullet hit the groom’s head soon after which he fell unconscious.
Even though relatives rushed Rastogi to the hospital in Lucknow, he was declared brought dead.
Police after reaching the spot questioned the invitees and family members who to came attend the marriage function but, as of now, they have not identified the person who fired the bullet at the groom.
According to officers, they will conduct a close examination of the video footage of the marriage reception to find clues regarding what exactly happened during the fateful marriage party.
The incident comes just days after an 8-year-old boy was killed by a Samajwadi Party member in Shamli in Uttar Pradesh. The incident prompted the Samajwadi Party to call for celebratory gun firing. Just a day after the ban on celebratory firing, another 14-year old boy was killed during a wedding celebration.
