Indian American comedians strike it big

Aziz Ansari, Kal Penn, Dan Nainan, and the list goes on, as the comic side of Indian origin stand-up comedians find a mainstream audience.

A turning point in the success of Indian American comedians was Russell Peters, a Canadian comic who has been extremely successful globally. “He’s made English standup comedy acceptable not only in India, but all over the world,” says Mr. Nainan.
