WASHINGTON, DC: A 30-year-old Indian pharmacist became a victim of the winter storm Nemo, when he died of a heart attack clearing snow, outside his home in Long Island, New York, and his eight-month pregnant wife was later admitted to hospital, after hearing the news.
Kranthi Kumar Hinge (30), working as a pharmacist for Invagen Pharmaceuticals in Long Island, suffered a massive stroke as he was clearing snow to park his vehicle at his residence in New York on Saturday, reported India Today, in a report from Andhra Pradesh, quoting family members of the deceased.
According to North American Telugu Association advisor Dr Pailla Malla Reddy, Kranthi complained of chest pain after coming into the house. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in 45 minutes after calling 911ambulance service.
“Although he was conscious in the ambulance he couldn’t make it after reaching the hospital,” Reddy said.
Doctors at the hospital he was rushed to, said Kranthi already had a chest pain and the severe cold conditions in the area hastened his death.
The sudden death of Kranthi left his eight-month pregnant wife Vani in a shock. She was also admitted to the hospital and is being treated for trauma. His brother Nageswara Rao Hinge who also lives in New York was also informed about the tragic incident, Reddy said.
A pall of gloom descended on Kranthi’s house at Nandigama village in Nallavelli block in Warangal district, said Today. His father H Lingamurthy, a farmer, told the media that Kranthi had got married three years ago and had moved to New York since then. “Since then, he has not come to the country,” he said. Kranthi’s paternal uncle H. Muralidhar left for the US today to bring the body to India.
Vani’s parents T Surender Rao and T Kasturi of Oglapur village of Atmakur block, are also in a state of shock. They appealed to the state government to help bring the body of Kranthi to India at the earliest, said the report.
