A pair of Qatari drivers who participated in a high speed, luxury car-powered street race through Beverly Hills have claimed diplomatic immunity to avoid facing charges.
The race was captured on video and went viral Saturday. It shows a white Porsche 911 and a yellow Ferrari LaFerrari, a hybrid supercar with a combined horsepower rating of around 950, speeding through a residential tract at high speeds on Saturday evening in the 700 block of North Walden Drive.
Video journalist Jacob Rogers said the man confronted him over his filming, according to NBC4.
“He told me verbatim, ‘I could have you killed and get away with it,'” Rogers said. “I told him, ‘the press is allowed to be here on the sidewalk on a public street.’ He said, ‘(Expletive) America’ and threw a cigarette at me.”
“He still proceeded to push me. I started walking backward with my camera up on my shoulder and at that point, he punched the camera as I was trying to lift it up on my shoulder,” Rogers told ABC7.
A new LaFerrari carries a price tag of about $1.5 million; the car could fetch up to $5 million, reported NBC. The plates on the LaFerrari are from Qatar, and according to blog Auto Gespot, belongs to a member of the Qatari royal family.
Police said they did not see the violations and “could not take any law enforcement action such as a citation or arrest,” according to a news release.
10-year-old Ashton Levian was riding his bike at the time and told KTLA, “I was scared to go home, like any second an 80 mile per hour zooming car can come and hit all of us.”

If it were an average American citizen driving in the exact same manner and it was caught on video, the same police who refuse to do anything about this situation would surely arrest the American regardless if the police witnessed it or not.
It has been reported elsewhere that those cars belong to Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad.
Qatar needs a strong message that such flagrant misbehavior of their arogant royals will not be tolerated. The US State Department should take immediate action to declare everyone associated with this residence ‘persona non-grata’.
It’s great to see these two dangerous terrorist’s were apparently admitted to America on “diplomatic” passports….. And, it’s good to know that if I bring the Beverly Hills police video evidence of a dangerous felony being committed in public, that they can’t make any arrests, because “they” didn’t actually see the felony behavior of rich dicks like this “in person” themselves, Of course, if the perp is maybe poor and/or brown or black,, and you have taped evidence, then it would be okay to make an arrest, right?
