The US military conducted a drone strike in Raqqa, Syria, on Thursday, targeting ‘Jihadi John’, the masked Islamic State terrorist who decapitated several Western hostages in the Middle Eastern country.
In a statement, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said, “U.S. forces conducted an airstrike in Raqqa, Syria, on Nov. 12, 2015 targeting Mohamed Emwazi, also known as ‘Jihadi John’.

“Emwazi, a British citizen, participated in the videos showing the murders of U.S. journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, U.S. aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, and a number of other hostages”.
However, the Pentagon is yet to confirm whether the attack killed the militant.
“We are assessing the results of tonight’s operation and will provide additional information as and where appropriate”, the Cook added.

The western forces have been trying to hunt down the savage killer of the ISIS who first appeared in a gruesome video dressed and masked in dark, beheading American journalist James Foley, in August 2014.
