General Motors India declared that the company will recall 101,597 units of Chevrolet Beat diesel hatchback car to replace its clutch pedal lever which it found faulty after continuous use, on Tuesday.
The chance of the clutch pedal lever braking after continuous use is high, which compelled the carmaker to recall the vehicles, said reports.
The company will check all the vehicles, which were manufactured between December 2010 and July 2014 and if found necessary, the clutch pedal lever will be replaced at free of cost.
“The company has started voluntarily notifying owners of the Beat Diesel to take their cars to any of Chevrolet’s 248 authorized service centers across India,” General Motors India said in a statement.
The customers can also contact the nearest authorized service center of General Motors to get their car repaired.
“Quality and care are our highest priorities and we are committed to putting customers at the center of everything we do. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction,” the company said.
In July this year, General Motors had recalled 1.55 lakh units of its cars Spark, Beat and Enjoy to fix the problem with remote keyless entry device. This was the biggest recall made by the company in India.
Honda had announced a recall of 90,210 units of its City and Mobilio manufactured between December 2013 and July 2015, when they found some problem with the fuel return pump.
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the apex organization representing vehicle manufacturers in India, has introduced voluntary recall system if the fault affects the safety of the vehicle that makes the manufacturers recall their vehicles.
So far 18.04 lakh vehicles have been recalled by different manufacturers in India.
