I have experience as an Indian tourist from the US in Kerala. The staff in hotels and other venues look down on you as an Indian. On the other hand they bend over backwards for a white backpacker with little or no money. fix that first. The rates at some of the hotels and resorts in Kerala are absurd, I could understand if you were getting world class amenities and service for the prices they demand.
