Remember the scene from Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’ where the actor distributes look-out notice of Hindu gods, including one for Hanuman? A similar incident happened in the state of Bihar where a lower court issued summons to Lord Hanuman in connection with a roadside temple dedicated to him.
The strange order was passed by a sub-divisional magistrate in Rohtas, who asked the monkey god Hanuman to appear before his court on a complaint filed by the Public Works Department.
The court order was pasted on the Hanuman idol of the temple.
The Public works department filed a complaint in the lower court seeking the demolition of the Panchmukhi Hanuman temple, which allegedly stands as an obstruction to the free movement of traffic.
Soon after the news about the court order became public, the local Bajrang Dal activists and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers came hard at the court summons asking it to repeal the demand.
The PWD official earlier this month had issued an encroachment notice against the Bajrang Bali after they found the temple dedicated god Hanuman encroaching the road in Lohia Nagar area in Begusarai district of Bihar.
Earlier on February 1, a lawyer in Sitamarhi district of Bihar had complained against Lord Ram and his Brother Laxman but the case was rejected by the Chief Judicial Magistrate calling it beyond “logic and facts” and “not maintainable.”
The petition filed by the lawyer had sought for filing a case against Ram and Laxman for sending away Sita into the forest “without proper justification.”
In another recent incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came under attack on social media after a cartoon he shared on Twitter was found derogatory by a few users for having portrayed Hanuman as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s spy. The caption of the cartoon that appeared in The Hindu read, “Done Sir. All attention is on JNU.”
