The Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bengaluru, has been ranked as the best university in India by the Human Resource Department (HRD) with a score of 91.81.
Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, was selected as the second best University. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, and University of Hyderabad (UoH), Hyderabad, which have been in the headlines recently for controversies centered around nationalism and freedom of speech, ranked third and fourth in the list, respectively.
In engineering category, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has been ranked as the best institute followed by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
IITs dominated the list of engineering institutes with 11 IITs making into top 11 ranks.
The Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru has been selected as the top management institute. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad got second place and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta ranked third.
The rank list has been prepared by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) under the Human Resource Department. The list was released by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani in New Delhi on Monday. Top 100 institutions have been ranked in each category.
Teaching and learning process, research, professional practice and collaborative performance, graduation outcome and outreach and perception were the parameters used for ranking.
