A 19-year-old student from Hyderabad died on Sunday after sustaining serious burns on Thursday when he was practicing a stunt for a reality show, reported The Hindustan Times.
Mohammed Jalauddin of Salala in the old city succumbed to burn injuries at a hospital in Hyderabad.
Jalauddin sustained burns when he was practicing a stunt using kerosene to get selected to a television reality show ‘India’s Got Talent.’ His friends were also with him shooting the stunt on mobile so that they can send the footage to the television to secure an entry for their friend to the reality show.
He managed to pour kerosene in his mouth and blew it against a fire stick successfully. After that, he poured kerosene on his T-shirt and ignited it. His plan was to remove the T-shirt before it gets completely burnt. But, his body caught fire before he could remove the shirt.
There were around 70 percent burns on his body when he was admitted to the hospital.
“He wanted to practice and make an entry into ‘India’s Got Talent’ by sending video clips. He then poured kerosene on his T-shirt and lit it but his body caught fire even before he could remove the T-shirt to complete the stunt,” a police officer told Hindustan Times.
The police have registered a case under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code. After completion of an autopsy, the police handed over Jalauddin’s body to his family.
