A US woman live streamed the final moments of a black man who was shot by a Minnesota police officer after being stopped when he was driving. The woman identified as Lavish Reynolds filmed the death moments of Philando Castile, 32, that went viral on Wednesday. A black man was shot in a similar incident in Louisiana a day before.
Philando Castile can be seen in the video sitting on the driver seat of a car with blood stains spread through his shirt. A policeman pointing is also seen pointing a gun towards the car. The woman can be heard saying the police shot her girlfriend after when he was searching for his license after being pulled over.
“Oh my God, please don’t tell me he’s dead; please don’t tell me my boyfriend just went like that… You shot four bullets into him, sir,” said the woman.
The St. Anthony Police Department confirmed that a policeman shot an unidentified black man during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights, Minnesota at 9 p.m. local time. The man died at a hospital later.
The police officer pulled over the vehicle for a broken tail light. Castile told the officer that he had a gun and license to carry it. But he was shot when he was trying to reach for the license.
Castile “was trying to get out his ID and his wallet out of his pocket, and he let the officer know that he had a firearm and he was reaching for his wallet, and the officer just shot him in his arm. He just shot his arm off,” she said.
“F**K. I told him not to reach for it,” the officer is heard screaming in the video. According to the woman, the police officer was a Chinese. He is yet to be identified.
The10-minute long video posted on Facebook was viewed by millions. Castile was working as a cafeteria supervisor at a school in St. Paul school district.
The US Justice Department has started an investigation against two police officers who allegedly shot a black man in Louisiana.
