The Atlantic Council South Asia Center in association with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF ) will host a dialogue with Indian spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on the topic “Combating Religious Extremism and Terror” on April 19, 2018.
The dialogue will be held at Atlantic Council, Washington, DC, from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. The dialogue will be moderated by Bharath Gopalaswamy, director of South Asia Center Atlantic Council. Mukesh Aghi, president of US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, will also speak at the event.
Ravi Shankar is a globally recognized humanitarian, spiritual leader and peacemaker whose work has touched the lives of more than 370 million people worldwide. He has pioneered innovative approaches to provide trauma and stress relief for affected populations in challenging geographies and varying conflict contexts. His organizations, the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values, are active in 155 countries.
Ravi Shankar, who preaches the message that World is one family, has made pivotal interventions in bringing peace to conflict-affected areas in several countries including Colombia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, and India. In the United States, he has started initiatives to help bring relief to US veterans, prisoners and youth.
The Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center works to build stronger relationship among South Asian countries as well as with its neighboring regions, Europe, and the United States. It accomplishes this goal by partnering with key institutions in the region and serving as a bridge in conducting a dialogue between decision-makers in South Asia, the United States, and NATO, and continues to “wage peace” in the region.
The USISPF is an India-centric advocacy group that works for strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and India. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the organization has offices in New York, Silicon Valley, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The main focus of USISPF is to promote bilateral trade between the US and India; however, the organization’s mission extends beyond this.
