Safe Water Network hosted global event celebrating World Water Day to feature Indra Nooyi, Param Iyer.
Over 500 young global change leaders from 30 countries will connect virtually to discuss the water-climate change intersection at a Safe Water Network hosted event to celebrate World Water Day on March 22.
Their second virtual youth series event, “Water and Climate Change: Risk and Resilienceâ€, will bring together change drivers and spotlight their innovative and solutions-oriented work to help tackle challenges faced in the water and climate change nexus, according to a press release.
Speakers, including Indra Nooyi, Former Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, and Param Iyer, Global Lead of Strategic Initiatives at The World Bank’s Water Practice, will address young change makers, thought leaders, and influencers from around the world.
Emphasizing the central role of youth, Iyer pointed out, “In partnerships with the Tata Trusts, the Swachh Bharat Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship program, deployed over 500
young professionals across India at the district level, which helped to trigger behavior change at scale.”

Kurt Soderlund, CEO of Safe Water Network, said, “Last year we launched the youth series and saw an overwhelming response to the issue of safe water from changemakers around the world.â€
“Building on that success, this World Water Day (March 22) we are hosting our second virtual youth series event with the goal to actively engage young champions in this critical global issue.â€
The event is supported by like-minded champions of the cause, Bow Seat and Emandi Law Firm, and already has a significant global reach with 500 registrants from over 30 countries.
The outreach partners for the event include Ashoka, BuzzOnEarth, GYEM, Why Waste? and India Model UN who have helped achieve the goal of building a global audience of committed young people who will stay engaged on an ongoing basis.
Well-known Bollywood singer Mohit Chauhan, who is passionate about the cause of environment, is addressing the group and performing a tune for the event.
A diverse group of leaders and change makers, including Gayatri Chauhan, Founder of BuzzOnEarth, Jainey Bavishi who leads New York City Mayor’s Office of Resiliency, Cairo Eubanks a youth representative for various global and national platforms, will bring their diverse perspectives to the issue.
Esha Mittal from Virginia Commonwealth University, and E Wen Wong, a poet and community-builder from New Zealand, are featuring as well.
A network of young leaders came together as the Youth Steering Group to galvanize global interest and participation for the upcoming event.
