Two incidents in Kozhikode district

In two shameful incidents of moral policing, four people, including two women, were attacked in Kozhikode district of Kerala, a day before International Women’s Day.
In the first incident, a mother and her son were attacked by six assailants on Monday night when they were going home after attending Shivarathri celebrations at a temple in Kozhikode city.
Kalamandalam Sheeba, a dance teacher and her son Jishnu, were travelling on a bike atmidnight. They stopped at a restaurant to have food. When they resumed the journey, a group of people who were sitting at the restaurant chased them on three bikes and attacked them.
They abused the mother and slapped the son. They took the ignition key of the bike the victims were on.
“Don’t threaten us. This is what we do. We’ve spent time in jail,” Shobha, the mother, was quoted as saying the response one of the attackers gave during the attack.
Shobha managed to note down the registration number of one of the bikes and later she and her son filed a complaint with the police.
The police have arrested five people in connection with the attack. They are identified as Shamil Anees (21), Mohammed Sinaj (23), Subeesh (29), Jafar Assan (26), and Asif (24).
In the second incident, a 19-year-old college student was attacked by a group of people when he gave a lift to a girl who was his classmate.Sreesagar was brutally attacked at Parakkadavu, a rural area in Kozhikode, after giving a lift to a girl who had come to attend a marriage ceremony there.

A group of youth took them to a deserted place and questioned them. Later, they attacked the boy brutally. They could escape only after the police reached the spot.
The police have arrested two people involved in the attack. They are identified as K Anzar and P Nazar. Four other people are yet to be arrested.
