Thrissur-based Aiswarya and Goutham’s awesome album reflects life in the shadow of Coronavirus.

The fast spreading Coronavirus pandemic has upended life around the world leaving people bewildered about their future plans with many postponing major events to celebrate another day.

But a couple in Thrissur, Kerala, a state on India’s tropical Malabar Coast, decided to celebrate their wedding with caution reflecting the times we are living in right now.

Aiswarya and Goutham planned their March 10 wedding  keeping in mind a new reality the world was confronting – the looming fear of Coronavirus becoming a global threat.

They decided to add the memories of these fearful times in their wedding album and chose to wear face masks to their wedding shoot.

The pictures that Thrissur-based photographer Stephin Joy shot turned out to be absolutely brilliant.

“The couple showed both humor and creativity while accepting the current global situation,” said Joy about them wearing the  ubiquitous masks that people are using to keep safe amid the pandemic.

Joy, who owns the Wedding Stories Photography, worked at a top Indian photography company for seven years before starting his own company last year.

“This is the real situation of the world today,” said Joy who himself gave the idea to the couple.

“I wanted them to be careful and also remember what the mood of the world was at that time, even after they see the pictures many, many years later.”

“The good thing is that the couple were game to be photographed and the results were splendid,” he said.

“I got this idea two days before the wedding so I went to buy masks at medical shops, but could only find it at a textile shop.”

“Yes we are totally home bound these past few days,” said Joy about life during the COVID-19 crisis in Kerala, a state that has also set an example for the world on how to contain the pandemic

“As photographers, we have to often travel to other states but of course all that work is halted right now. But then it is important to take these steps.”
