Global COVID-19 cases top 700,000: Within a day of passing the 600,000-mark, global cases easily passed the 700,000 mark. The United States is currently reporting one fifth of the global COVID-19 cases, with several hotspots developing in various cities across the country, apart from the hard-hit New York State. Italy crossed 100,000 cases with around 30 percent of the total deaths so far reported worldwide. The cases reported from Spain continue to surge, taking it to the third highest in cases. Spain also reported one fifth of the total deaths worldwide so far.
