The Sikh Foundation International is organizing Sikh Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Golden Gala and Education Conference to celebrate its 50th anniversary. A “golden gala” program The Pride and Promise is scheduled for May 5 at Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Pride and Promise program will be followed by a conference Advancing Sikhs through Education at Stanford University, CA, on May 6th and 7th. In addition, an art exhibit Saints and Kings: Arts, Culture, and Legacy of the Sikhs will take place from March 10th to June 4th at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.
The event would see attendance from prominent community members from the US, Canada and India. Guests and speakers include India’s Ambassador to the US Navtej S Sarna, Artist Arpana Caur, Minister of National Defence of Canada Harjit S Sajjan, British film maker Gurinder Chadha and Sikh American activist Valarie Kaur.
Other expected attendees, and likely speakers, include Ex Member of the Parliament of India Tarlochan Singh; Senior Curator of Victoria and Albert Museum in London Susan Stronge; Research anthropologist at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History Paul Michael Taylor; Former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India Montek S Ahluwalia; Member of House of Lords, UK, Lord Indrajit Singh; ICRIER, India, Chairperson Isher Judge Ahluwalia; Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development of Canada Navdeep S Bains; Chief Minister of Punjab, India, Captain Amarinder Singh; and, Chairman of Emeritus, Max Group, Analjit Singh.
The Foundation’s website does not specify the dates of the guest speakers, yet.
The tickets for the event start from $1000. Students and young professionals, however, can apply to attend for gratis. Free-of-cost seats are limited and the deadline to send applications is March 31. Readers can register for the event online here.
